Final weeks

The final draft of the 7-10 page Research Project has been turned in (Monday). On Monday, we then looked at transferring the information from that paper into a detailed and professional brochure.

Some tips on how to set up the brochure on your own computer at home can be found at This helpful site- The COmputer Companion.

Also, we will be heading into the computer lab today in order to set up the layout and get your projects under way. They will be due this next Monday.

Week of April 2-6

Monday, April 2: I had you all meet up with my sub - Aspen Easterling - at the library. Thanks to those that stopped in. I hope you got some great research in that day!

Wednesday, April 4: I had to cancel class - I had believed my plane would land in time, but it did not. I had directions setup for you to continue your research in the library.

Friday, April 6: We will be going to the Hagg Sauer Computer lab to finish/continue the proposal.

This Week

This week we will be looking at Research methods and discussing how to get your sources onto the citation page.

Last week, we narrowed down the focus of your research essays. So far, I have seen a lot of great topics and ideas on how to proceed.

The assignment handed in on Friday was one in which I had you evaluate your topics:

1) The Focus Question that most interests you
2) Questions you will need to answer in order to find out an answer to your focus question
3) What you expect to ultimately say about your topic

Research Proposals

On Monday we began narrowing our research topics. My hope is that on coming to class, most will have a definite feel for what they would like to write about. There was a single handout that described the research proposal.

Today, we will look at a sample research proposal (handout) and then work as a class to work on the topics that have been chosen.
